As a “church without walls” one of our deep desires is to stand with ministries that are reaching out to youth and young adults within our city. One such amazing organization is Young Life Canada.
Last September 2019, you’ll recall we invited the leadership of Young Life Edmonton East to come and share in one of our Sunday morning services. At that time, we also gave them $1,500 towards their ministry.
Young Life is an initiative that I personally believe in and ask each of us to pray for and encourage. Why? Because unlike many youth ministries today, Young Life connects with junior and senior high youth in and through their local schools – where the youth spend 40% of their waking hours.
With the permission of school leadership, Young Life invites youth to activities, both in groups and one to one. They ultimately build trust relationships with them, with the hopes of introducing them to Christ for a lifetime.
In short, Young Life goes to youth, where they live, work and play, and share Christ.
As you can imagine, most of the work done by Young Life is accomplished by volunteers, sacrificing their time to care for youth. The programs are also established and managed by the kind donations of generous individuals in Edmonton.
If you are interested in attending Young Life’s East and North Edmonton’s & Sherwood Park’s Annual Banquet “Built to Last” Fundraiser – along with my wife and I – it would be fantastic to go together.
It takes place on Sunday, March 15, 6 – 8 pm with doors opening at 5:30 pm at Capilano Christian Assembly, 9333 50 St. NW. For more information please go to www.younglife.ca/eastbanquet to register for tickets. It’s free. Please respond by March 12th.
For the youth of our city, let’s pray for this important event.
God Bless, Pastor Larry
